      NEWBORN SESSIONS  

Due to the nature of a new baby, these sessions can take up to 3 hours due to feedings and changings. (but typically average right around 2) We can do this at my home studio or at your home (additional $50). If we schedule the session in your home I like to shoot in a very well lit room. I prefer to shoot in natural light, however, I will bring lighting in the case the need arises. I like to photograph the nursery and all the little details to make the shoot more personal! This is more of a lifestyle session. If you want a more stylized newborn session with all the cute props, I recommend you come to my home studio. I have props galore you will have no need to bring anything unless you want too. Just extra diapers, wipes, extra food, and a paci. We will get sibling and family shots at both sessions. 

I recommend doing the session within the first 5-10 days of the baby’s birth. Babies change so quickly and in this first week or two they are also sleeping a lot and it is very easy to get them into position to photograph them. Please contact me prior to your baby arriving. It’s never too early to schedule! This way I know your due date and I will be expecting to hear from you within that time frame. I am very flexible with scheduling newborn sessions since they arrive when THEY are ready! Contact me as soon as you are home from the hospital and we can pick a day within the next week or so. I shoot Monday-Fridays. I do offer a very select number of Saturday mornings (when I do not have a wedding booked) with an additional fee of $50.

I like to keep clothing simple with newborns. Most of the time I would like the baby to be undressed or swaddled, focusing on his/her tiny features, wrinkled skin, hands and little toes. Please try to have the baby changed and fed prior to your session. If you know they will fall asleep after feeding, get them undressed (diaper on) before, and wrap them in a blanket. This way we won’t have to disturb their sleep by taking off their clothes. If we are shooting at your house, turning the heat up in the house/room will also help them from getting cold and unhappy. Of course these are only suggestions. If your baby has not eaten or is not sleepy, that’s ok too!! I am flexible and will work around them. Remaining calm will keep them relaxed. Don’t be surprised if you little one spits up or tinkles on my props, this is very common and I am prepared for it.
